Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein sponsors projects that strengthen international bridge-building and cross-border encounters, such as the EYFON VIG YouthDays, a meeting and dialogue forum for young adults from all over Europe.
This year, the EYFON VIG YouthDays celebrated their fifth anniversary: organised and staged in cooperation with Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the European Youth Forum Neumarkt (EYFON) has held the event since 2019. More than 180 young people from 20 countries answered the call for their ideas and thoughts on the topic “With each other – for each other: Acting in solidarity in everyday life”. A panel of judges selected the 30 most impressive and creative submissions and invited the winners to spend an entertaining and exciting week at the Europaburg castle in Neumarkt in the Austrian province of Styria.
Young people from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia all caught the judges’ eyes with their entries – including Ralf from Albania: “I think all of us can count ourselves lucky to have had this opportunity. It’s a great chance for us to hone our social skills, become more independent and handle various situations without any problems!”. Aged between 14 and 17, each of the participants has at least one parent who works for the Vienna Insurance Group. The VIG YouthDays are an initiative of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the main shareholder of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG).
Alongside workshops and leisure activities, the absolute highlight for the teenagers was the chance to make new friends, get to know different cultures and improve their language skills. Many of them had previously taken part in one of the VIG Kids Camps: “The EYFON VIG YouthDays have everything that I enjoyed so much about the Kids Camp – just on a whole new level,” explained Vlad, one of the participants from Romania.
