EYFON VIG YouthDays

Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein sponsors projects that strengthen international bridge-building and cross-border encounters, such as the EYFON VIG YouthDays, a meeting and dialogue forum for young adults from all over Europe.

Held early August for the sixth time, the EYFON VIG YouthDays has been organised and staged by the European Youth Forum Neumarkt (EYFON) – in cooperation with Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein – since 2019. This year, more than 230 young people from 20 countries applied to take part in the event, sharing their ideas and thoughts on the topic “Artificial intelligence”.

A panel of judges selected the 30 most impressive and creative submissions for a competition titled “Artificial intelligence: too good to be true”, and invited the winners to spend an entertaining and exciting week at the Europaburg castle in Neumarkt in the Austrian province of Styria. Young people from Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia all caught the judges’ eyes with their entries.

Alongside workshops and leisure activities, the absolute highlight for the young participants was the chance to make new friends, get to know different cultures and improve their language skills. This prompted Ramona (16) from Romania to apply for the EYFON VIG YouthDays for a second time – and she was invited to the Europaburg once again this year. “This is an experience I don’t want to miss out on! I can make new friends here and the memories will stay with me for the rest of my life. And yes, I’ve already met lots of new friends, including from Romania, Georgia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Moldova, Croatia and Albania. I’d like to stay in contact with them whatever happens.”

Aged between 14 and 17, each of the participants has at least one parent who works for the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG). The VIG YouthDays is an initiative of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the main shareholder of the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG).
