Architecture in Croatia can be divided into three highly productive periods in which distinct styles developed under very specific conditions. The 30s saw Croatia as a newly independent state in the inter-war period, while in the 50s and 60s it was a non-aligned state within the communist territory. It is now undergoing a period of reorientation following the Balkan wars.
