Ringturm Wrapping

The Ringturm in Vienna is the headquarters of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the Vienna Insurance Group and Wiener Städtische Versicherung. It is also a venue for showcasing Central and Eastern Europe’s architectural heritage. The Architektur im Ringturm exhibition series, held in the building’s exhibition centre, offers the general public regular insights into architecture of the countries in which the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) operates. A range of other arts and cultural events also take place at the Ringturm.

Since 2006 the Ringturm itself has regularly been turned into an artwork. The covering of the Ringturm is one of the largest and most spectacular works of urban art. During the summer months, the historic office building located on Vienna’s Ringstrasse boulevard is regularly transformed into a 4,000-square-metre work of art. A total of 30 printed netting sheets, each around 3m wide and up to 63m long, adorn the facade.

The covering of the Ringturm is now a firmly established tradition and an integral part of Vienna’s summer cityscape. Günter Geyer, President of the Supervisory Board of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, VIG’s main shareholder, is the initiator and champion of the project.

Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein supports the Group in all of its social and cultural activities. The covering of the Ringturm is a high-profile symbol of the cross-border cultural exchange and dialogue in public spaces that Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein is driving forward.
